Single Digits in an Atmosphere of Anticipation

Posted by Brianator on March 5, 2008

As we draw closer to the due date Tanya has been almost living at the doctor’s office.  On Tuesday we had a final ultrasound to check the size of the baby, which showed that she was about 8 lbs.  Then on Wednesday Tanya was at her weekly doctors visit where they decided that they would induce her next Friday.  Aaaahhh.  Suddenly we have very little time left.  And now we have a firm date just 9 days away.  It’s hard to wrap my head around the fact that in a week and half we are going to have a baby of our own to look after.  But, I couldn’t be more excited.

An Update of Sorrow

Posted by Brianator on March 4, 2008

Hey everyone, I’m still here.  I haven’t updated this in a long time, mostly because I haven’t had much to update.  Life continues on slowly.  But today I am feeling very nauseous.  I felt the same yesterday after lunch, I think I had some bad yogurt.  I hate feeling nauseous.  I would rather have a cold.  About 6 1/2 years ago I broke a bone in  my hand and had to have surgery to put a couple pins in because it wasn’t healing properly.  After the surgery I was given a prescription for Tylenol 3′s with Codeine.  I took one and it made me feel nauseous.  I would rather deal with pain then nausea so that first pill was the last pill.  But now there is no pill to not take and so I must just endure this torment.

More Info Please

747Standard 424 – Physical and Mental Requirement – Medical Category 1.  This is the ‘medical fitness’ requirements that Transport Canada has created that must be met in order to obtain a pilot’s licence.  There is a section that outlines the visual requirements and what corrective measures may be taken in order to be deemed fit.  Within this section there is mention of corrective glasses and contacts and the restriction on the use of these.  However, there is no mention of corrective eye surgery, whether allowed or not.  Has anyone looked into this and found any ruling?

Update On Life

Posted by Brianator on December 17, 2007

It has been a really long time since I have wrote anything here and so I thought an update was due.  First of all, just recently there was a kid at the daycare where Tanya worked that had Fifths disease.  This is typically not a dangerous disease to the child or those around them…..except if you are pregnant, then it has been linked to causing miscarriages.  So Tanya went to the doctor to get checked out and everything is fine.  But, while there Tanya asked if she should go on early mat leave, like in Feb.  After asking how far along she was (24 weeks at the time) he said that she should be done working right then.  So for the last couple weeks Tanya has been on sick leave and will not be returning to work.  It is incredable at how much of a change in your life that that makes and how much it makes you realize that you have only 1 vehicle.  Oh well, it’s better to be safe.

Over the last month and a half the baby has been kicking more and more.  About three weeks ago I was able to start feeling her kick and recently we have been able to see her kick and move.  It seems so weird that there is a real living person inside.  Tanya was really hoping that the baby would be kicking so that others could see and feel before we went home for Christmas and she got her wish.  Speaking of which, we are heading home on Wednesday, only 2 more days!
